There are endless possibilities and the fun never stops when you are on a RipStick. The unique RipStick design allows it to twist along the lengthwise axis and the rider can carve back and forth and make heal and toe side turns. It is like snowboarding on the street and the rider can go anywhere, up or down.
RipStick is actually two narrow platforms (trucks) adjoined by a metal beam with a strong spring inside it. Each truck or deck has a wheel mounted on a slant at a 30 degree angle and in a way that each faces away from the front of the board and can rotate independent of the other.
Wheel Casters
The stance while riding a RipStick remains perpendicular to the board and the rider does not need to propel it by kicking as you do with a kick-start scooter or a skateboard. The rider on RipStick pushes each truck to the side, which creates potential energy, which is released as the board is forced to move back down under the rider's and its own weight. This causes the wheels to want to turn to face straight again, which is possible only by being able to roll.
The Razor RipStick Ripster, made by the same company that supplies Razor pro scooter, is a shorter and lightweight version of the original RipStik. Its inclined caster trucks and the pivoting deck provide an experience similar to snowboarding. The typical concave design of the platform allows better foot control and the urethane wheels and high-speed bearings allow a smooth ride. Razor RipStick Ripster comes with a DVD that contains instructions for beginners.
